Cinisi is where I was born
and raised
Cinisi, I have always praised
I was young and in my teens
When I left Cinisi
I was only thirteen

You are born in Cinisi
and you understand the ways
there is no other place
you wished to be raised

Life was difficult in
that little old town
There was no cars,
or trucks to get around
There were no jobs
no opportunity
America was the country
where I wanted to be

Many years passed
before I visited home
That was way back
in nineteen seventy three
The countryside
had changed drastically

When Mary and I
arrived at the airport
Everything looked dingy
and kind of old

I didn’t even know
my own neighborhood
It all looked small
and not as good

Back to Sicily, Cinisi,
I went again
but this time,
I must confess,
The old town
had changed
I was excited and
very glad

Cinisi, you have always
been in my heart
I never have forgotten
where I came from

I am an Italian / Sicilian
and American citizen by
choice
But always a Cinisaru
by birth rights

Here in America I am
happy to be
I speak Italian
/Sicilian, Cinisaru naturally
I learned English
and speak it fluently,
Cinisaru, Sicilian, Italian
American I am happy to be.
